“After almost ten years of designing, I have learned the psychology behind the colors we choose and how a room can influence everything from productivity to mood.”

Interior Design & Decorating has always been a passion of mine. As a child I spent hours rearranging the furniture in my doll house, making paper curtains, and wishing I had more furniture options to play with. Today I’m one of the lucky few who followed my passion to school and get to practice this trade. I’ve given up paper curtains and have more furniture options than I could ever use in one lifetime.

My design style is typically rooted with a coastal vibe although I am always so excited to be challenged by my clients. I dive into each job with the same intensity I had in college; all in…hours of research…a true quest for the right products or design to complete my vision.

“Anyone can pick out a design and recreate it, but if the style does not hold true to you it will never feel like home.”

The Outer Banks To Me

The Outer Banks to me is not just home, it’s my heritage. Born and raised I’ve always called Roanoke Island home. My ancestors were a part of the early establishment of the Town of Manteo. This has made me determined to leave my own mark on the Outer Banks. I must say it’s also a fun place to be a designer too! Every day is like the pages of Coastal Living Magazine have come to life.

My Design Style

It’s important as a designer to convey a style to your clients so they may decide to work with you or not. It’s difficult for me to say if I have a signature style as I bounce back and forth from:

  • the vacation homeowner with an investment property who is looking to make a profit and appeal to vacationers picking from a 1000’s of homes
  • the second homeowner who chooses to create a wonderful place to escape their busy life
  • the homeowner who needs guidance because of the overwhelming options available today

Each job is customized and completely different from the next. I love the opportunity to try new design styles that are out of my comfort zone. I have discovered that most of my clients request a place that evokes a feeling; like being on vacation, escaping day-to-day, or relaxation. So after almost ten years of designing, I have learned the psychology behind the colors we choose and how a room can influence everything from productivity to mood.
